We can't wait to share this with you - after all, as an association of British Boer and meat goat breeders and keepers, we've always aimed for a friendly society, and we think one of the most important aspects of that is making sure you get to stay in the loop!

01/10/2023 - FIRST BBMGA AGM ANNOUNCED

The first annual BBMGA AGM is set to be held on the 21st of October, 2023. Looking forwards to seeing everyone there! Seem emails or contact the secretary for further details.

10/09/2023 - NEW FEATURE ANNOUNCED: PEDIGREE AND BIRTH NOTIFIED NOTETAKING SYSTEM

You asked, we answered! Our pedigree notetaking system, which we've worked closely with the amazing team at PedigreePlus to create, was announced, which offers members a simple and easy way to record notes, data, and any general musings on individual animals. The notetaking system works for both pedigree registered and birth notified goats! Find out more by visiting the BBMGA PedigreePlus system and heading to your goat's individual page.

02/09/2023 - MELTON MOWBRAY MARKET SALE

Our very first annual show and sale at Melton Mowbray market was a huge success, with over fifty animals entered and a great trade, with a 100% clearance rate. Prices topped at £380 for a pedigree BBMGA-registered Boer buck, with a strong turnout of people to attend and watch the sale. View the full summary on Melton Mowbray Market's social media post.

01/08/2023 - BBMGA APPROVED AS THE OFFICIAL DEFRA-RECOGNISED BOER BREED SOCIETY

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the BBMGA is now the official DEFRA-recognised breed society for Boer Goats in the UK, as per international Zootech regulations! This is a big change that we are all immensely proud to be a part of, helping put British Boer goats back on the international playing field while giving the breed even greater credibility within the UK market for breeders, buyers, and sellers. 09/06/2023 - UPCOMING MARKET ANNOUNCEMENT: MELTON MOWBRAY

The BBMGA is thrilled to have partnered with the Melton Mowbray livestock market for a pedigree sale in September 2023, open to all pedigree breeders. The sale will include a show section with rosettes for the best BBMGA Boers and Meat Goats as well as for the best non-BBMGA pedigree goats. See the events page for further information.

Ever wondered how goats are performing across UK markets at present? Our brand new, fortnightly goat market reports can give you an insight! Compiling data from several listed markets, the market reports provide information on the number of goats sold, the highest prices achieved per animal, and the top prices per breed, among other data. 23/02/2023 - OUR BIG PUBLIC LAUNCH!

We're thrilled to announce the launch of the BBMGA to the public. We look forwards to joining you on this exciting new journey, and we hope that you'll enjoy the experience with us just as much as we love helping you get the most from your Boer and meat goats.

As part of our goal to create a friendly and open Boer and Meat Goat society of breeders, we wanted to ensure the website was packed with helpful information, easy to navigate, and showed what we represent.
